Sam was going speed dating. She couldn’t believe she had agreed

Sam was going speed dating. She couldn’t believe she had agreed to it, but then Myra had pushed and forced her with all the power she had, and Sam had given in. Besides, hopefully it wouldn’t be too bad, as Myra had said that she would come along for the speed dating session too, for moral support.
Sam had been single for over a year, and quite frankly, had put little effort in to moving on after being cheated on by her ex-boyfriend. Myra was just trying to be a good friend Sam supposed. But Sam didn’t believe in things like speed dating or sex on one night stands. She was more of a believer of soul mates, and that there was someone really special out there for her somewhere. And she didn’t believe in having to go out on some mad hunt to find him. As soul mates, they would find each other, as it was their destiny.
The night of the speed dating session, Sam almost couldn’t be bothered to make that extra effort with her appearance. She had had a really stressful and tiring day at work, and the last thing she felt like doing was going out. “Do it for Myra” she reminded herself. She was after all, going along to this thing for Myra’s sake, almost in an effort to show Myra that she appreciated her help.
Myra met Sam outside the speed dating venue. It looked really pathetic to Sam from the outside. They had a board advertising the event so clearly which made Sam not even want to go inside. But constant nudging from Myra did get her in there, and they had both pre-paid £3.50 for this event after all.
When the speed dating event began, Sam almost wanted to chuckle out loud. Her first date wouldn’t keep his eyes off her breasts. Thank god each date only lasted 3 minutes! Loser after loser, thought Sam, no wonder these guys were single! When Sam got onto her 6th date of the night, an unconventionally cute guy in a pink shirt had sat himself in front of her. He had a lovable smile she thought, but then wondered if she’d had too much to drink by that point and didn’t really have the best judgement anymore. His name was Steve and it turned out he had been forced to come along by a friend too! Steve was actually quite sweet and Sam found herself feeling almost a little shy around him!
Steve gave Sam his number at the end of the night, and as Sam gracefully accepted it, she wondered if fate worked in very strange ways.
