Founded by Diane Bryden and Christine Moyes, Female Driving Instructors is a drivers ed program operating in Edinburgh, East & West Lothian and its surrounding areas. After starting out in December of 2007, the company has grown to include 13 female and 1 male instructor, each of whom tailor their lessons based on the individual. Just because the name of the company is 'Female Driving Instructors', it does not mean that they only serve female clients. The company claims that approximately 30% of their total students are males.
Gift vouchers can be bought for the purpose of gifting the driving lessons to an individual. Classes range from1-hour refreshers or brush-ups to packages of up to 15 hours broken down into 1 or 2 hour sessions. The prices for these range from £23 an hour to £300 for the 15 hour package - this works out to £20 an hour. The rates are slightly higher if you wish to use an automatic car vs the standard. The program includes mock tests, and preparation for the actual driving test, using one of the company's own cars. The company offers discountsto students as listed in Snap Fax.
The clients can start each session from any convenient location such as their homes or schools, and each session typically lasts for an hour or two depending on the needs of the client. The company typically uses the MINI as their manual transmission car, but have recently expanded their use of other small class cars to cater to a wider variety of clients. They also recently acquired an automatic transmission car, and have consequently started to provide automatic transmission driving lessons, thereby widening their customer base even more.
Female Driving Instructors have several testimonials listed on their website, and they claim that most of their clients are referred to them by previous customers, thus implying that the clients are generally happy with the service and results provided by female driving instructors.
One thing they do not mention is if they are a qualified program which insurance companies recognize and give discounts to individuals who have completed the program. This is something that one should definitely consider when choosing a drivers ed program. More information on the company itself, as well as information on classes, prices and instructors can be found on their website: www.femaledrivinginstructors.corgor by contacting them at 07814 426 198 (Diane) or 07921 950 085 (Christine).
